Clam Shell Gate

 

UNICON has been Manufacturing clamshell gates for bulk material handling systems for more than decade. Our clamp shell gates can be used for any type of bulk material handling whether it is high temperature, adhesive or abrasive. We are giving Hrdox 400 or Hardox 450 lining for all material contact surfaces according to the application. Our state-of-the-art clampshell and testing facilities is the key to achieving optimal performance.

 

The outboard end of the hinge pins of double clamshell gates are supported to keep them in line even as the parts wear. The box and blades are heavy enough to do the work they were designed to do. The blades are shaped to reduce friction as they slice through the material in closing. The tooth gear quadrants that we use on our double clamshell units are designed for long trouble free use. One big advantage of using a double clamshell gate is that the material drops out of the center of the opening as the gate blades separate.

 

UNICON Clamshell Gate Features Include:

 

 Construction is of minimum 1/4" mild steel plate, heavily reinforced where necessary. Bolting flange is constructed of heavy structural steel angle. All welding is per AWS standards. Gate pivot shafts are C-1045 steel shafting, and are attached to heavy backing plates welded to the gate body.

 

Regreasable bushings are located at the four pivot points attached to the gate radius plates. Bushings are easily regreasable via pressure lubrication fittings located on the pivot shaft ends. Duplex clamshell design incorporates timing gear sectors at each of the four pivot points. This configuration assures smooth, even actuation of both clamshell halves. Gate valve flange includes our standard bolt hole pattern. Actuation is by two heavy-duty, pivot-mounted, double acting pneumatic cylinders, constructed to ANSI specified dimensions for interchangeability. Cylinders include hard chrome plated rods, and long-wearing, double seal configurations. Cylinder rods are clevis-mounted to the gate blades. Cylinders are sized for actuation at a minimum of 80 psig clean plant air. OR Actuation is by two or three heavy-duty, pivot-mounted hydraulic cylinders, constructed to ANSI specified dimensions for interchangeability. Cylinders include hard chrome plated rods, long-wearing, double seal configurations, and heavy steel cylinder tubes. Cylinders are clevis-mounted to the gate blades. Cylinders are sized for actuation at 1500 psi hydraulic pressure.

 

 OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:

 

 Add for material contact surfaces to be lined with abrasion resistant steel - 360 BHN. Add for a directional control valve mounted to the gate housing and piped to the cylinders. Add for each pair of limit switches mounted to the gate housing for remote open/close position indication.

 

Dome Valves

UNICON provides a complete line of Dome valves suitable for air lock applications. The dome valve component closes beneath the seat(Seal) when the seal is relaxed (not inflated), allowing a controlled gap between the seat (seal) and the closing member (Dome). Material is allowed to pass through or enter the controlled gap if, due to its characteristics. It is pulled into the gap by the action of the Dome component moving to its closed position.

In the closed position, high pressure air or other gas enters the space between the back of the seal face and the insert ring to cause the seal face to expand onto and around the periphery of the dome component. Material particles are entrapped by the seal against the dome surface, irrespective of particle size or shape. Before opening the valve, the seat is relaxed and the controlled gap is reestablished before the dome component moves to its open position.

The seal is a loose component clamped into place by a spigot piece and external fasteners holding the top plate assembly to the body. The seal is easily removed for inspection.

Press Abrasive Materials

Slurries, bulk powders, granules, lumps or dust-laden gases cause seat erosion and ineffective closure. The inflatable seal provides continuous wear compensation.

Pressure Differential

Pressure differential also causes accelerated seat wear in conventional hard seat valves. The inflatable seal provides continuous wear compensation.

          

High Temperature

Thermal expansion prevents consistent valve seat action. The inflatable seal provides compensation throughout the temperature range 0º to 660ºF (350ºC). Temperatures above this range may be tolerated using special valve configurations.

Close and Seal

The displacement action of the rotating dome within the valve housing allows rotation of a solid column of material so that a choke filled Dome Valve®  will close and seal through packed material.

Double Cone Valve

UNICON provides a complete line of Double cone valves suitable for air lock applications.  Similar to the rotary airlock valve, the cone valve is used in pneumatic conveying systems, dust control equipment, and as volumetric feed-controls to maintain an even flow of material through processing systems.  In double cone valves, the operations are similar to that of a double flap valve. In a double cone valve, however, the flow control is accomplished through two chambers.  UNICON double cone valves offer a non-wearing seal and will operate flawlessly under all types of continuing process conditions.   This would include applications with extreme temperature ranges, abrasive, corrosive materials and high-pressure differentials.  We offer a full line of double cone valves.

They are commonly used wherever dry solids need to be moved between areas of differing air pressure. UNICON manufactures rotary airlock feeders and double dump valves and double cone valves which can handle a variety of materials and pressures. Double cone valves, Rotary Airlock Feeders and Double Dump Valves are typically constructed of carbon or stainless steel with hard surfacing of the internal components as required for the particular application and double cone vales with the high hardness material cone.

UNICON provides three types of double cone valves as mechanically operated valves, electrically operated valves and pneumatically operated valves. In the case of mechanically operated double cone valves the counter weight / springs gives the force for the movement of the cones. In the case of pneumatically operated double cone valves, pneumatically operated piston gives the force for the movement of the cones. But in the case of electrically operated double cone valves, motor coupled with the shaft of the cones through a reduction gear box gives the force for the movement of the cones.

During operation, product builds up on the cone until a sufficient load overcomes the counterweight.  The cam alternately opens each cones, allowing material to pass through the separate chambers in batch form and thereby ensuring a gas seal.  After cam release, the counterweights (or springs) smoothly return each cone to the sealed position. This type units are suitable for pressure differentials of up to 20 inches water gauge.  However with special consideration to the contact points between the inlet and the cone, a seal can be incorporated to allow pressures up to 5 psi.

Rotary Air Lock Valve

UNICON has been Manufacturing rotary airlocks, airlock equipment, and rotary valves for dust collection systems for more than decade. With ESPs, are it Dry ESP or wet ESP, we can supply Rotary Airlocks or rotary valves with standard inlet flange and outlet flanges or with non standard inlet and outlet flanges up to 900mm sq or 900mm Diameter. Also with the Bag house dust collectors that can be pulse jet, reverse air, offline controlled cleaning, Pleated or cartridge systems, we can give solution to practically all industrial rotary airlock or dust collection problem. Rotary valves are useful as one component in a bulk or specialty material handling system. Our state-of-the-art rotary airlocks and testing facilities is the key to achieving optimal performance.

High-Duty rotary valves are employed in the conveying and dosing of almost any kind of materials in the most demanding applications. These valves are eminently suitable for handling powdered and granulated materials in pneumatic conveying systems and under atmospheric conditions.

UNICON Rotary valve is basically suitable for almost any application you can think of. The valve functions mainly as an air- or explosion barrier or for dosing/discharging of a wide variety of materials. These valves also can be employed as a protective system up to 10 bar when handling dust explosion hazardous materials.

The valve is also very suitable for dosing in a pneumatic conveying system when used in combination with a ventury or blow-through adaptor and valves create a high filling efficiency and capacity due to their very effective inlet shape

UNICON can also supply rotary airlocks with special designs to offer a suitable and economic solution for standard applications with a limited pressure differential. These valves are used for example in dosing and/or discharging
of non-abrasive materials in pneumatic conveying systems or mounted below silos/hoppers for abrasive or mildly cohesive products.

UNICON rotary valves are manufactured with a square and circular flange. It is therefore possible to use at a transition connection from square to round or from round to square. Both sides have a double shearing edge and the valve housing is executed with cast air vent provisions in both directions. This means a considerable reduction in installation height and cost for expensive transition flanges.

SLIDE GATE VALVE

The UNICON Slide gate valve with square port (square inlet and outlet) design, metal seated valve ideal for isolation application in free flowing coarse materials like pellets, chip and granules.

Salient Features

UNICON slide Gates offers Metal to metal face sealing for material tight shut off across the sealing perimeter.

Face sealing on complete perimeter of opening to eliminate possibility of entrapment of granulous material between gate and housing and thereby ensuring full closure of gate at all times.
